[VIDEO] - Congregants Cry Out 'No Obinim, No Votes!' On Obinim's Arrest.

The leader and founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim was arrested and handcuffed for an alleged GH¢11.6million fraud case on Tuesday, the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service has revealed.

The controversial pastor, who has been embroiled in a domestic violence case in which he publicly flogged two teenage members of his church over the past week, is said to have been reported to the Police by one Bismark Kusi, a businessman, for defrauding him.

Public Relations Officer of the Police CID, ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa stated that they received a complaint some few weeks ago by the businessman who accused Obinim of refusing to refund an GH¢11.6million gold money he had besieged the Bishop to bless for him since June 2015.

The Tema Regional Police Command effected Obinim’s arrest for their investigative work on the alleged fraud. The Bishop was however transferred to the Police headquarters in Accra for further questioning after his congregants massed up at the Tema Police station.

On the domestic violence case, ASP Darkwa also said they would later be handed to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit to commence investigations into the flogging of the two teenage members of his church.

This has made a significant number of protesters believed to be congregants of the beleaguered founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim converged at the Nima Police Station demanding for his release from custody.

CID Spokesperson ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwa who revealed the reason behind the arrest said the businessman complained that he had given the money to Bishop Obinim to spiritually bless it.

Members of Bishop Obinim’s congregation who massed up at the entrance of the Nima Police station on Wednesday morning were captured on camera with one Alice Ayitey chanting “No Obinim, no votes!” in the upcoming general elections in December.
