[ VIDEO]: Rev. Martey Refutes Claims Of Taking $100,000 Bribe

The immediate past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Reverend Prof. Emmanuel Martey has debunked claims by the former Public Relations Officer of the church that he indeed took the $100,000 bribe and offered him half of the amount.

Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey revealed on Tuesday that some politicians attempted to bribe him to prevent him from making negative comments on national issues. He alleged that the politicians also promised to give him a mansion at Trasaaco and a V8 vehicle if he remained silent.

But in an interview with the media, the PRO, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Acheampong, who was sacked by the Presby Church in June 2013 countered the Reverend’s claim that he rather went ahead to take the bribe and even offered him $50,000.

Prof Martey, in a brief rebuttal, has however swat aside Dr. Osei Acheampong’s claim. He said the date on which the former PRO was sacked from his duty in the church and the date on which he (the PRO) claims he went with the moderator to collect the bribe are conflicting hence exposes the lie in former PRO’s statement.

“He says that I invited him [on July 20, 2013] but look here [points to a document which shows the PRO was sacked by the church on June 22, 2013].

How? You, we have already sacked you in June and I will invite you in July? [sic],” Rev. Prof. Martey questioned.

Prof Martey, who didn’t want to further explain his position, said he will issue a full statement on the matter in due course.
