[Catholic Church] - Mother Teresa Made A Saint By Pope Francis

The leader of the Catholic Church Pope Francis has made Mother Teresa a saint as thousands gathered at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican to witness the canonisation.

The revered catholic nun, born Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu in 1910 at Macedonia, is respected for her dedication to the destitutes and dying.

"Maybe we will have some difficulties in calling her St. Teresa,” the pope said. “I think spontaneously we will continue to call her Mother Teresa” even though she will now be formally known as St. Teresa of Kolkata."

A brief description of Mother Teresa's work was read by Cardinal Angelo Amato before inviting the pope to canonise her.

"After due deliberation and frequent prayer for divine assistance, and having sought the counsel of many of our brother bishops, we declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint and we enrol her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole church,” the pope responded.

The crowd erupted in sustained applause and cheers when the pope proclaimed her St. Teresa at the end of the formal ceremony in Latin.

Pope Francis described her as “emblematic figure of womanhood and of consecrated life to the whole world of volunteers, May she be your model of holiness.”

He further hailed her “defense of human life, those unborn and those abandoned and discarded."
Mother Teresa won the Novel peace prize award in 1979 for her known humanitarism.
The nun of Kolkata died in September 05,1997 at the of 87.

The Pope cleared the way for the Nobel Peace laureate last December after a second miracle, the healing of a man with several tumors was attributed to her.

The first miracle attributed to the Nun after her death was a woman from Calcutta who was healed from a tumor in the stomach after praying to the Blessed Mother Theresa.

The ceremony to make her a saint falls on the eve of the anniversary of her passing.
