The Minister of Gender, Children And Social Protection In Ghana Nana Oye Lithur reports 'Bishop' Obinim to DOVVSU.

Nana Oye Lithur
Gender, Children, and Social Protection, minister of  Ghana Nana Oye Lithur has said her ministry has reported  the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim,to the Accra Regional office of the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU)
of the Ghana Police Service, for lashing two of his church members with a belt.

The two have been accused of committing fornication and conspiring to abort the baby that was conceived as a result.

Obinim who referred to the two as his adopted children, reigned insults on the two in a church service and implied in his comments to them they must have been “stupid” to engage in premarital sex.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Minister Lithur said investigations have commenced into the acts of the Bishop.

“We have been informed that the police have commenced investigations into the matter and a complaint has also been filed against him [Obinim] at the Tema Regional Police. We will keep you posted on further developments.”

Meanwhile the Director of Amnesty International Ghana, Lawrence Amesu has described Obinim’s actions as criminal, warranting an arrest.

“…For Amnesty International, we think that Bishop Obinim is going beyond his jurisdiction at this time. This is a criminal offence [and] he should be arrested by the Police.”

Obinim was last year chastised for publicly carrying out an exorcising exercise on a pregnant woman.

He was seen on tape continually stomping on the woman’s progressed pregnant belly.

Amesu said the the Bishop has been ignored for too long hence he is becoming increasingly notorious for some of the world’s most “insane” acts.

He called on all Human Rights activists to rally behind the Amnesty international and condemn is actions “totally.”

“…it is up to us now, at this time to come together to put more pressure on the police to arrest Bishop Obimim” he said lucidly.

Do you think the police should arrest Obinim?
