This has led to loss of revenue to the audio visual creative industry and the many TV stations who have continuously invested in their people and content, and loss of tax revenue to the government from the illegal activities of these TV stations.
The Communications Fraud Unit of the Ghana Police, CID Headquarters recently raided the Angel TV studios for infringing on the sports content rights of Supersport. The raid was conducted based on leads provided by Multichoice Ghana Ltd.
Angel TV which came into business a few years ago, has been alleged to be illegally airing EURO 2016 Games and the on-going Rio 2016 Olympics Games without the required rights for Ghana. During the operation, the Police seized gadgets/devices used in perpetrating this illegality.
The rights to these major sports meets (Rio Olympics, Premier League and La Liga) are currently exclusively held by Supersport Africa and distributed by Multichoice Ghana through DStv and GOtv platforms.
The founder and general overseer of the International God’s Way Church (IGWC), Bishop Dr. Daniel Obinim, has been recorded on tape beating up two of his church members for committing fornication and abortion.
Obinim who referred to the two as his adopted children, implied in his comments to them in the video they must have been “stupid” to engage in premarital sex.
Contemporary gospel musician, Florence Obinim, who is married to the Bishop, was also seen in the video pleading for mercy on behalf of the two who have been accused of conspiring to terminate the baby that came out of their affair.

Menwhile, in a press statement to the media, press aide to Obinim, Joseph Osei Oppong Brenya, said his Bishop’s actions were driven by “the disappointment and melancholy a father will go through after detecting that his lovely and cherished son has impregnated the lady and terminated it”.
In the statement titled ‘Why Bishop Obinim punished two of his adopted children in Church’, Brenya whose communications are sanctioned by his boss quoted a portion of the bible to support the ‘Man of God’s’ actions.

The Founder and General Overseer of International God’s Way Church (IGWC) Bishop Dr. Daniel Obinim has punished one of his adopted children for impregnating a young girl and terminating the pregnancy.
Bishop Obinim exhibited his frustration as a father after it was revealed to him during prophecy time in church that one of his adopted children has impregnated a lady known as Gyesiwaa. The man of God could not take the news but called the two to the pulpit and disciplined them for that wrongful act. Both mothers of the accused persons were present during the church service which was broadcast live on OBTV.
The gentleman known as Elliasu is said to have aided the termination of the pregnancy, an act which infuriated Bishop Obinim hence his action. The Young girl nearly lost her life in the process of terminating the pregnancy.
Elliasu lost his father at a tender age and has been under the care of Bishop Obinim among many others who are catered for by the popular man of God. All expenses including Education are all taken care of by Bishop Obinim. Elliasu and Gyesiwaa including their families are housed and catered for by Bishop Obinim.
Bishop Obinim acted as a father and disciplined the two live in church to serve as a deterrent to others.

This video has alarmed The Director of Amnesty International Ghana, Lawrence Amesu to call for the arrest of the founder and general overseer of the International God’s Way Church (IGWC), Bishop Dr. Daniel Obinim, who has been recorded on tape beating up two of his church members with a leather belt.
The two have been accused of committing fornication and conspiring to abort the baby that was conceived as a result.
Obinim who referred to the two as his adopted children, reigned insults on the two and implied in his comments to them they must have been “stupid” to engage in premarital sex.
Amesu in an interview with Accra based 3FM called out the ‘Man of God’ for indulging in such criminality.
According to him, “the public should be really upset,” and put pressure on authorities to arrest the man.
“…For Amnesty International, we think that Bishop Obinim is going beyond his jurisdiction at this time. This is a criminal offence [and] he should be arrested by the Police.”
Obinim was last year chastised for exorcising a pregnant woman, by continually stumping his feet on her progressed pregnant belly.
